Computer Games are fantastic, gripping and mystifying. They are played by people of all ages, nationalities, professions and interests. Computer games are a prominent invention of the entertainment industry and they have created their own successful industry of gaming.

Computer games can't boast a very long history, but they can boast the progress made for this short period of time. They have gained much interest and popularity all over the world.

Modern computer games have become the most favorite form of entertainment around the world. In 2008 UK sales of computer games outreached those of music and video. And researchers predict that they will rise even more immensely soon mainly thanks to the rapid growth of online sales.

All computer games can be divided according to genres and themes they are based on or oriented to. The most well-known games belong to the genre of football computer games. FIFA series have made much success. Racing computer games is another popular theme now. Grand Theft Auto adds more adrenaline to gamers who are fans of drifting and racing games. Fighting computer games are also sought-after, but parents consider them a bit brutal and savage (as you know in Germany paintball can be banned because it's considered cruel).

Different computer games are developed with different purposes. In most cases they are entertaining, still they can be teaching. Some computer games are developed for self-training and made with educational purposes. They are known as educational computer games and meant for kids, youngsters and grown-ups. They can teach something or learn to understand.  Educational computer games improve memory, enhance concentration and are a good exercise for mind to name a few of their useful characteristics.

In comparison to other kinds of computer games, adult computer games are quite a recent phenomenon. The first hint on adult computer games was taken by the Japanese. They developed Eroge or Japanese Eroge that drew much attention of Japanese gamers at first and then of the rest of the world. Now adult computer games are popular here, there and everywhere. There are some games that aren't considered adult ones but still they contain explicit content and they must be rated M or T. Meanwhile some countries remove sex appeal and nudity from adult computer games (e.g. God of War in Japan) making them available for teens and kids. Watch out when choosing a computer game for your children, read attentively and ask shop assistants.
